2024 AuditionS

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the 2024 Blue Stars! This year we are celebrating the 60th Anniversary of our organization and we can’t wait for you to become a part of our legacy!

Auditioning for a drum corps may seem like a daunting task. You need to choose whether you want to attend an in-person camp or submit a video audition, then download and prepare the audition materials.

We invite you to become a part of our legacy by auditioning, learning from our instructional staff, and working with our corps leadership team to take the next steps in becoming a performing member of a DCI World Class Drum & Bugle corps.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you as a member of the 2024 Blue Stars!

First time auditionees are welcome to attend a January Camp! Even though we refer to our January Camps as “Round Two” and “Callback” camps, we are still in the process of setting full corps membership.

Please plan to attend one of the Callback Camps if you receive a Callback offer following Round One, are a member of the corps, or if you want additional experience at a Blue Stars camp.

About The Audition

Don't be afraid to audition

Every year dozens of qualified members don't come to the audition because they're nervous about something, typically being 'cut.' We don't 'cut' anyone. We go to great lengths to make your audition experience rewarding, educational and worthwhile. We encourage every person interested in the corps to come to camp. Remember, talent and skills are important, but work ethic, tenacity, and communication skills are often more so. Also, there may be opportunities you haven't considered if your first choice doesn't work out.

How Does the Audition Work?

The first round of auditions for the 2024 season will be held at single day camps across the country or via video. After purchasing your audition packet, you will receive a link to download the audition packet for your instrument and instructions on how the audition process works for the chosen instrument/section.

Following the first two rounds of auditions, there will be Callback camps in Indiana, California, and Texas in January and at least two additional winter camps prior to Spring Training move-ins.

Do I need to bring my instrument to the audition?

YES! Brass/Color Guard/Battery there will be some Blue Stars instruments available, but we can’t guarantee equipment for all attendees. Please bring your own horn/drum/flag/rifle if you have it.

Front Ensemble will have Blue Stars keyboards available.

Will food be provided? How are special diets handled?

All meals during camp weekends are included with your registration. Our Culinary Crew can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free needs. You are able to communicate dietary needs when completing the Member Interest Form and upon registering for camp.

What should I pack for my audition camp?

Blue Stars Camp Packing List

Are shuttles provided if I fly in to camp?

The Blue Stars will provide shuttle transportation to and from camps in INDIANAPOLIS ONLY. You can communicate your flight information in your Camp RSVP Form (coming soon!).

When booking flights, please arrange to fly into the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) to arrive by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 10 and to depart after 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 12.

If driving, there is plenty of parking space at all sites.

Once More, Don't be Afraid to Audition

We regularly hear from people who say "I'm not good enough for drum corps," or "I'm afraid to audition." If you are at the point where you are reading this - you need to come to camp. You have very little to lose and everything to gain.

Everyone auditioning for the Blue Stars will have a great experience. You will meet some great people, you will learn great musical and guard skills, you will know more about the Blue Stars, and you will feel fabulous because you did something in pursuit of your dream. Do not stay home! Find out what this is all about. Come to camp.
