2006

2006 could possibly be the second most instrumental year in the history of the Blue Stars, the first being the year we were founded. That is tough to say, since the past few years have been essential to our success. This was our return to Division 1.

After several months of winter rehearsals, the 2005 edition of the Blue Stars arrived at Camp Decorah, ready to lock down the 2005 production Pixelation: The Music of Final Fantasy. This corps was, again, the product of the explosive growth which the corps began to see in 2004.

What a year. What a special year. Our show says it all-"Three Decades." It wasn’t until after our finals show that I finally understood what everyone had pretty much been saying all along. That the 2002 year wasn’t just another show. It was a memorial to the history of our corps.

I remember thinking on the night after DCI Prelims: "The monkey is off my back, and I will kill it, stuff it and hang it on my mantlepiece." Unfortunately, the monkey hopped right back on the next night, as we lost the championship to the Mandarins once again.

The ’98 season was somewhat unique for many of the members. I managed to get on board sometime in April, making the long drive from Michigan City, Indiana. The vets followed an incredible ’97 season and expected great things. All of the rookies were very excited to be Blue Stars.
