High Brass Technician
Mike Roberts is originally from Orland Park, Illinois. In 2018, Mike graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor's degree in instrumental music education. While at ISU, Mike performed in the Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and was a drum major for the Big Red Marching Machine. Mike is currently going in to his second year teaching band at Pontiac Township High School. His responsibilities include teaching the marching band, concert band, pep band, jazz ensemble, and madrigal brass ensemble. Additionally, he judges for solo and ensemble festivals in the Central Illinois area.
Within the marching arts world, Mike has taught at numerous programs in the Chicago suburbs and Central Illinois area. In those programs, he was able to positively contribute to both brass and visual captions. In 2016 and 2017, he spent his summer marching with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. Mike continued with the Blue Stars in the 2019 season as one of the trumpet instructors. He can't wait to start his second year on staff!
