Myles Matalavage

High Brass Technician

Myles Matalavage was born and raised in Northern Virginia. He graduated from James Madison University in 2015 with a Bachelors of Music Education. While at James Madison University, Myles performed in the horn section of the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Brass Band, Marching Royal Dukes, Horn Choir and numerous chamber ensembles. 

During this time he was fortunate to perform at the annual Virginia Music Educators Conference, College Band Directors National Association Conference in Nashville Tennessee, and International Tuba-Euphonium Association Conference in Austria. Myles studied horn with Professor Ian Zook and conducting with Dr. Stephen Bolstad.

Myles is serving his fourth year as the band director at Potomac Middle School and Assistant Marching Band Director at Potomac High School, both in Prince William County, Virginia. In addition, Myles has served on the marching band staff with Waynesboro High School and Langley High School.

Myles marched with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps during the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons as a member of the mellophone section. This is his fourth year as a member of the Blue Stars Brass Staff. FCO!
