2020 Season FAQs

Q: Can the Blue Stars survive this crisis?

Yes, but…
One of the Blue Stars’ Values is:

“We value and respect the resources shared with us by our supporters,
and thus we endeavor to use them wisely and efficiently.”

Smart management of our finances and resources will see us through to the other side of this crisis. But, it will hurt. A lot. All of the resources at our disposal will be needed to finance refunds and cancellation costs, plus keep a skeleton crew working on the long-term planning and survival of the organization. Four of our largest fundraisers were cancelled along with the season. We will need the support of the greater Blue Stars family to help us weather this challenge.

Q: How can I help?

Your gift to the Blue Stars is more important today than ever before. Without appearance fees, summer fundraising events, and revenue from our shows, we will depend on your contributions and merchandise purchases to support our daily operations. There are many ways you can help:

Make a one-time contribution. If you’re able to contribute, every dollar is needed and appreciated. Thank you!

Become a monthly donor. Small amounts add up over time. Please consider making your donation automatic each month or quarter.

Shop for Blue Stars Gear. Even though our souvenir trailer will not be on the road this summer doesn’t mean you have to miss out on getting the latest and greatest Blue Stars Gear! Every sale supports the organization directly.

Re-invest your “drum corps dollars.” Drum corps fans are incredible and each summer they invest a lot of money into the DCI Summer Tour. Please consider making the same investment in drum corps this summer by donating back your tickets, making a contribution in the amount of your concessions snacks or travel expenditures, and buying a t-shirt!

Volunteer. Even though we won’t be on tour this summer, we don’t intend to sit idle. We have a few long-neglected projects in La Crosse we intend to tackle once we’re given the all clear. Watch the website and our social media channels and join in if you’re able.

Q: Will there be a 2021 season?

Yes. While this pandemic has placed the entire activity at risk, the decision to cancel the season now rather than later, allows us to start planning immediately to ensure a 2021 season. We know there will likely be changes but feel confident in the future of the activity that we all love and are so passionate about.

Q: Will there be an extension for members due to age out in 2020?

The DCI member corps have agreed to extend eligibility for one year to members that would have aged out in 2020 allowing them to march in 2021.

Q: What is the status of 2020 contracted members?

All individuals currently contracted with the Blue Stars for 2020 and in good standing will not need to re-audition for a spot in the 2021 corps as their place is guaranteed.

Q: What is the status of member dues?

We will be contacting members and their families directly regarding the options available for 2020 member dues.

Q: Is the Blue Stars Office open?

The office in La Crosse is currently under a Safer-at-Home order in Wisconsin, however we are regularly checking the postal mail, voicemail, and email. Info can be found at: https://bluestars.org/contact-information
