Blue Stars Choose Yamaha

Buena Park, Calif. (November 6, 2015) — Yamaha today announced that the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps have chosen to become the eighth corps in the World Class division of Drum Corps International (DCI) to adopt all-Yamaha brass and percussion instruments.

"We decided that if we give our students the best equipment possible, we are also providing them with the greatest chance to succeed, so we are going with Yamaha across the board," said Brad Furlano, executive director of the Blue Stars, based in La Crosse, Wisconsin. "We know that Yamaha stands behind its product and provides service that is second to none."

In addition to playing Yamaha 9300 series marching snare drums and 8300 series marching toms and bass drums, the Blue Stars will use the company's Xeno trumpets, marching F mellophones, marching Bb baritones, marching Bb euphoniums, marching Bb tubas, as well as 6300 series copper timpani and the Multi-Frame II product lineup for all front ensemble instruments. The corps also uses all Yamaha sound reinforcement equipment, including a TF digital mixing console, a synthesizer, loudspeakers, power amps, a DTX-Multi12 electronic percussion pad and a Live Custom acoustic drum set.

Yamaha has supported DCI – Marching Music's Major League™ – since 1985. In that time, Yamaha corps have compiled an enviable record of accomplishments, including 16 DCI Championships, 15 Fred Sanford High Percussion Awards and nine Jim Ott High Brass Awards – all more than any other manufacturer. In addition, corps that rely on Yamaha have won a third of all gold, silver and bronze medals bestowed in DCI competition since 1985. At its heart, DCI and its affiliated corps are centered on music education and Yamaha affiliated drum and Bugle corps have launched the careers of thousands of music educators in the United States and around the world.
