Bass Instructor

Gilbert Nazari is a percussion educator and designer based in Southern California. His performance experience includes groups including Dark Sky Percussion, RCC, Blue Stars, Mandarins, and Blue Devils. Since 2016, Gilbert has taken on teaching roles across Southern California at schools such as Burbank HS (2017-2018), Crescenta Valley HS (2017-2018), San Marcos HS (2016-2020), and Santa Barbara HS (2018-2019). Additionally, he served on the percussion staff at Dark Sky Percussion (2021-2022) and Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps (2022).

Gilbert currently serves as the caption head and designer at Temple City HS (2020 - present) and Rancho Starbuck Intermediate (2022- present), and is also the bass instructor at Arcadia HS (2019-present). This is Gilbert’s second year teaching at the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps.

Gilbert earned his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Philosophy and Political Science in 2020. His research interests have included questions in theory about the nature of justice, equality of opportunity, and responsibility. He just recently volunteered at Children’s Centers across Armenia, and aims to spend the next year working as a substitute teacher and while teaching marching percussion.
