Michael Kern
Front Ensemble Instructor
Michael Kern is a percussionist and educator based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Missouri State University. Michael has been an active member in the marching arts, both as a performer and as an educator. Michael marched with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps from 2015-2017, the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps for their 2014 season, and Freedom Percussion for their 2015 and 2017 seasons. Michael was the I&E Marimba Champion for the 2017 DCI season.
As an educator, Michael was the front ensemble coordinator for Spirit of Atlanta during the 2021 season. Michael was a front ensemble technician for the Academy DBC during the 2022 season.
Currently, Michael is the front ensemble manager for Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, a position he has held since 2019. Michael is also an active percussion arranger for various groups in the Oklahoma area. In addition, he also holds a large studio of private lesson students, ranging from beginner to advanced.
