Greg Power
Percussion Caption Head
This is Greg’s second year as caption head at Blue Stars. Greg resides in the Pasadena, CA area and is a member of the Vic Firth/Zildjian education team. He received his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from Washington State University (2015) and his Master of Music in Percussion Performance at California State University - Northridge (2018). He performed in DCI with the Cascades, Blue Stars and in WGI with Pulse Percussion.
Greg is currently teaching at RCC indoor, battery percussion at Arcadia HS, La Canada HS and front ensemble at Los Alamitos HS.
Prior to his current employment, Greg was a battery tech at Blue Stars (2016-2018) and Bluecoats (2020-2022), winning the Fred Sanford award for best percussion in 2022. He taught POW Percussion from 2016-2022, as a battery tech, front ensemble coordinator and ensemble coordinator. Greg also formerly taught Thousand Oaks, Sierra Vista and Chino Hills HS, and was a former adjunct professor of percussion at California State University, Bakersfield, front ensemble coordinator at Golden Empire and adjunct professor of percussion at Bakersfield College.
